About Polypropanediol-4
Polypropanediol-4 is a polymer of propanediol consisting of 4 moles of propanediol.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, help prevent emulsified water-and-oil systems from separating easily, and add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively rigid.[2] It is also used to dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formula, lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and adjust the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
