Polyester-4 is a copolymer obtained by condensing adipic acid and pentaerythritol whose terminal groups are substituted with caproic acid, heptanoic acid, caprylic acid, and capric acid.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to form a thin film on the skin, hair, and nail surfaces after application and to leave the skin surface feeling soft and smooth.[2]
