About Poloxamer 401
Poloxamer 401 is a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block polymer.[1] In the Poloxamer number 401, the first two digits indicate an approximate molecular weight of 4000 for the oil-affine middle section, while the last digit indicates a proportion of about 10% for the water-affine section. The influence of the oil-affine middle section is relatively pronounced. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
