About Poloxamer 237
Poloxamer 237 is a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer in which x, y, and z are 62, 39, and 62 on average, respectively.[1] In the Poloxamer number 237, the first two digits indicate an approximate molecular weight of 2300 for the oil-affine middle section, while the last digit indicates that the water-affine section accounts for approximately 70%; because the water-affine portion is predominant, it disperses relatively well in aqueous formulations. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to reduce surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
