Poloxamer 215 is a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block polymer in which x, y, and z are 24, 35, and 24 on average, respectively.[1] In the Poloxamer number 215, the first two digits indicate an approximate molecular weight of 2100 for the oil-affine central portion, while the last digit indicates that the water-affine portion accounts for approximately 50%; the two portions are relatively balanced. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
