About Poloxamer 124

Poloxamer 124 is a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block polymer.[1] In Poloxamer 124, the first two digits indicate an approximate molecular weight of 1200 for the oil-affine middle block, while the last digit indicates that the water-affine portion accounts for about 40%; the water- and oil-affine portions are relatively balanced. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended and to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
