About Piroctone Olamine

Piroctone Olamine is an amine salt.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the product and delay deterioration during storage.[4] In Korea, it may be used at up to 1.0% in rinse-off products and up to 0.5% in other products.[2] In Europe, when used as a preservative, it may be used at up to 1.0% in rinse-off products.[3] The secondary amine content of the finished product is also limited to a maximum of 0.5%, and the nitrosamine content must not exceed 50 μg/kg.[3]
