About Pinus Cembra Leaf/Twig Oil

Pinus Cembra Leaf/Twig Oil is a volatile oil obtained from the leaves and twigs of the Swiss stone pine.[1] Volatile components obtained from the leaves and twigs contribute to the initial impression of a fragrance and the lingering scent after application, and tend to evaporate more readily than typical plant oils. In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, help prevent the characteristic odor or taste of an ingredient from becoming too prominent, add fragrance to products, or modify an ingredient’s characteristic odor.[4] In Korea, oils and extracts from leaves and twigs cannot be used in cosmetics when their peroxide value exceeds 10 mmol/L.[2] In Europe, only raw materials with a peroxide value below 10 mmol/L may be used.[3]
