About Phenol
Phenol is a fragrance ingredient used to add or adjust a product’s scent or taste.[1] In cosmetics, it is used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms, alter the taste or odor of raw materials to make them difficult to ingest, and reduce the prominence of unpleasant odors.[1] It is also used to add fragrance to products, keep teeth and the mouth clean and comfortable, and slow product deterioration during storage by inhibiting microbial growth.[1] It is classified as an ingredient that cannot be used in cosmetics in South Korea.[2] It cannot be used in cosmetics in Europe.[3]
