About PEG/PPG-8/55 Copolymer
PEG/PPG-8/55 Copolymer is a block copolymer obtained through the interaction of 8 moles of ethylene oxide and 55 moles of propylene oxide.[1] The number 8 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units; the degree to which it mixes with oil and the feel during application vary depending on this number and the type of fatty component attached to it. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, dissolve other raw materials to create a uniform formulation, and lower surface tension so that raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
