About PEG/PPG-8/26 Dimethicone
PEG/PPG-8/26 Dimethicone is an alkoxylated derivative of dimethicone to which an average of 8 moles of ethylene oxide and 26 moles of propylene oxide have been added.[1] The number 8 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units, and the degree to which it mixes with oil and its application feel vary according to this number and the type of fatty component attached to it. In cosmetics, it is used to suppress unwanted foam during manufacturing or use, add flexibility so films or polymer layers do not become excessively hard, and leave the skin's surface soft and smooth.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
