About PEG/PPG-6/4 Dimethicone

PEG/PPG-6/4 Dimethicone is an alkoxylated derivative of dimethicone consisting of an average of 6 moles of ethylene oxide and 4 moles of propylene oxide.[1] The number 6 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. Depending on this number and the type of fatty component attached to it, its compatibility with oils and application feel vary. In cosmetics, it is used to keep water-and-oil emulsions from separating easily and to draw moisture into the formulation and the skin's surface to help maintain hydration.[2]
