About PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone
PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone is an alkoxylated derivative of dimethicone composed of an average of 18 moles of ethylene oxide and 18 moles of propylene oxide.[1] The number 18 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units. The degree to which it mixes with oils and the application feel vary depending on this number and the type of fatty component attached. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
