PEG/PPG-14/4 Dimethicone is an alkoxylated derivative of dimethicone composed of an average of 14 moles of ethylene oxide and 4 moles of propylene oxide.[1] The number 14 after PPG indicates the average number of linked propylene oxide units, and the degree to which it mixes with oils and its application feel vary depending on this number and the type of fatty component attached to it. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
