About PEG-90 Stearate

PEG-90 Stearate is a polyethylene glycol ester of stearic acid.[1] The number 90 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. Within the same base structure, changing this number may also change how readily it mixes with water and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
