About PEG-80 Stearate
PEG-80 Stearate is a polyethylene glycol ester of stearic acid.[1] The number 80 indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; for the same base structure, changing this number can also change water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formula. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and dirt rinse away with water and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
