About PEG-80 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
PEG-80 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of hydrogenated castor oil containing an average of 80 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 80 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to make emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
