About PEG-80 Castor Oil
PEG-80 Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of castor seed oil with an average of 80 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 80 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formula. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
