About PEG-8 PPG-8 Dimethicone

PEG-8 PPG-8 Dimethicone is a polyoxypropylene, polyoxyethylene ether of dimethicone with an average ethoxylation value of 8 and an average propoxylation value of 8.[1] The number 8 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changing this number may alter water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create an emulsion in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
