About PEG-8 Laurate
PEG-8 Laurate is a polyethylene glycol ester of lauric acid.[1] The number 8 indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; with the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
