About PEG-8 Castor Oil

PEG-8 Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of castor seed oil containing an average of 8 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 8 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; with the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
