About PEG-8

PEG-8 is a polymer of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 8 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added, and within the same basic structure, differences in this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to attract moisture to the formulation and skin surface to maintain moisturization, and to dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formulation.[2]
