About PEG-75 Distearate
PEG-75 Distearate is a polyethylene glycol diester of stearic acid.[1] The number 75 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changing this number can also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
