About PEG-60 Sorbitan Tetrastearate
PEG-60 Sorbitan Tetrastearate is a polyethylene glycol ether of sorbitol with an average of 60 moles of added ethylene oxide and a tetrasterate ester of stearic acid.[1] The number 60 indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. Within the same base structure, changing this number can affect water dispersibility as well as the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
