About PEG-60 Sorbitan Tetraoleate

PEG-60 Sorbitan Tetraoleate is the tetraester of sorbitol’s polyethylene glycol ether, with an average of 60 moles of ethylene oxide, and oleic acid.[1] The number 60 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water dispersibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
