About PEG-6 Methicone Acetate
PEG-6 Methicone Acetate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of Methicone with an average of 6 moles of ethylene oxide and a partial ester of acetic acid.[1] The number 6 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, smooth hair by reducing tangling and a rough feel, and soften and smooth the skin's surface.[2]
