About PEG-50 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
PEG-50 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of hydrogenated castor oil containing an average of 50 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 50 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; with the same base structure, changing this number may affect water miscibility as well as the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
