About PEG-5 Glyceryl Tristearate
PEG-5 Glyceryl Tristearate is the triester of the polyethylene glycol ether of glycerin and stearic acid.[1] The number 5 indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; with the same base structure, changing this number may affect water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce friction on skin or hair and add a smooth feel, and to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
