PEG-45 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of hydrogenated castor oil with an average of 45 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 45 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; for the same base structure, changing this number can also change its water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so that raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
