PEG-40 Sorbitan Perisostearate is a mixture of sorbitol condensed with an average of 40 moles of ethylene oxide and isostearic acid.[1] The number 40 indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number can alter water dispersibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation.
