About PEG-40 Isostearate

PEG-40 Isostearate is a polyethylene glycol ester of isostearic acid.[1] The number 40 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changes in this number may affect water dispersibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to reduce surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
