About PEG-4 Laurate
PEG-4 Laurate is a polyethylene glycol ester of lauric acid.[1] The number 4 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changing this number may alter water miscibility and the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
