PEG-4 Diisostearate is a polyethylene glycol diester of isostearic acid.[1] The number 4 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changing this number may also change water compatibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
