About PEG-3 Sorbitan Tristearate

PEG-3 Sorbitan Tristearate is the triester of a polyethylene glycol ether of sorbitol with an average of 3 moles of ethylene oxide and stearic acid.[1] The number 3 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; for the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
