PEG-3 Sorbitan Stearate is an ethoxylated sorbitan monomer of stearic acid with an average of 3 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 3 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; within the same base structure, changing this number may affect water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
