About PEG-25 Paba

PEG-25 Paba is primarily a polyethylene glycol derivative of p-aminobenzoic acid.[1] The number 25 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to reduce changes to the product and formula ingredients caused by ultraviolet radiation, and to absorb or reflect ultraviolet radiation to reduce the amount reaching the skin.[3] In Europe, when used as a UV-filtering ingredient, it is permitted at up to 10%.[2]
