PEG-25 Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of castor oil containing an average of 25 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 25 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formulation. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
