PEG-25 Butylene Glycol Isostearate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of Butylene Glycol Isostearate with an average of 25 moles of ethylene oxide added.[1] The number 25 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. For the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
