About PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate

PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of the final product obtained by conditional hydrogenation of the glyceryl monoester of palm acid.[1] The number 200 indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. With the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water; to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed; and to dissolve other raw materials to form a uniform formula.[2] It is also used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
