About PEG-20 Myristate
PEG-20 Myristate is the polyethylene glycol ester of myristic acid.[1] The number 20 in its name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; for the same base structure, changing this number may alter water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulations in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
