About PEG-20 Glyceryl Laurate
PEG-20 Glyceryl Laurate is a polyethylene glycol ether of Glyceryl Laurate with an average of 20 ethylene glycol units added.[1] The number 20 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
