About PEG-20 Castor Oil
PEG-20 Castor Oil is a polyethylene glycol derivative of castor oil containing an average of 20 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 20 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. With the same base structure, changes in this number can affect water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed and to lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
