About PEG-190 Distearate
PEG-190 Distearate is the polyethylene glycol diester of stearic acid.[1] The number 190 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units. Within the same basic structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, to lower surface tension so that raw materials wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to control formula viscosity and flow.[2]
