About PEG-180m

PEG-180m is a polymer of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 180 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. Within the same basic structure, changing this number may also change how readily it mixes with water, as well as the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help the ingredients in a formula bind together and maintain its form, to prevent emulsions of water and oil from separating easily, and to adjust the formula's viscosity and flow.[2]
