About PEG-175 Distearate
PEG-175 Distearate is a polyethylene glycol diester of stearic acid.[1] The number 175 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, to lower surface tension so raw materials can wet, mix, and spread evenly, and to adjust the formula’s viscosity and flow.[2]
