About PEG-160 Sorbitan Triisostearate

PEG-160 Sorbitan Triisostearate is the triester of sorbitol polyethylene glycol ether and isostearic acid, with an average of 160 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 160 in the name indicates the average number of added ethylene oxide units; with the same base structure, changing this number may also change the degree of water miscibility and the formula's viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to help sebum and impurities wash away with water, create emulsified formulas in which water and oil are evenly mixed, and lower surface tension so ingredients can wet, mix, and disperse evenly.[2]
