PEG-15 Hydrogenated Castor Oil Isostearate is a polyethylene glycol derivative of the isostearic acid ester of hydrogenated castor oil, containing an average of 15 moles of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 15 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. For the same base structure, changing this number can alter water miscibility and the formulation’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly blended, and to adjust the formulation’s viscosity and flow.[2]
