About PEG-14
PEG-14 is a polymer of ethylene oxide.[1] The number 14 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. Within the same base structure, changing this number may also change water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to attract moisture to the formula and skin surface to help maintain hydration, and to dissolve other ingredients to create a uniform formula.[2]
