About PEG-12/Poly(1,2-Butanediol)-12 Methoxy Isopropyl Ether

PEG-12/Poly(1,2-Butanediol)-12 Methoxy Isopropyl Ether is a block copolymer obtained by reacting 12 moles of butylene oxide with 12 moles of ethylene oxide, with the terminal groups substituted by methoxy isopropyl ether.[1] The number 12 in the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added; within the same basic structure, changing this number may also change its water miscibility and the formula’s viscosity and spreadability. In cosmetics, it is used to lower surface tension so ingredients wet, mix, and spread evenly.[2]
