About PEG-12 Distearate

PEG-12 Distearate is the polyethylene glycol diester of stearic acid.[1] The number 12 indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units added. Within the same base structure, changing this number can affect water miscibility and the viscosity and spreadability of the formula. In cosmetics, it is used to create emulsions in which water and oil are evenly mixed.[2]
